God has allowed me to single parent two young adults, tame Grave’s Disease, start a business and grow into a confident woman!
We would like to thank you for supporting Valerie Cheathon in this year's competition. Your support helps us contribute to the National Breast Cancer Foundation who provides early detection, education, and support services to those affected by breast cancer.
I love my acceptance of me. Like many women my age, had I known, I would have attempted to accept me for me sooner! And celebrated myself more… but all things work together for good and anytime I can encourage my children and other young people to recognize and protect their value sooner than I did, I say something!
How do you stay fabulous? Not the most simple approach but here we go. First, do hard things because we don’t want to run low on perseverance. Second, smile a lot in facial expression and tone because being a light lifts everyone’s mood including your own. (Bars baby! Seuss Inspired!) Third, be grounded. I’ve chosen my faith to ground myself in. When all else fails (including my attitude) it is how I reset. What are you grounded in? What pushes your forward?
What would you do with the $40,000?Masters in mathematics approach to how to spend 40K: 10% to support what grounds me; 10% to pay a bill that covers a necessity; 5% to support a cause; 5% to each person I birthed (their “mom can I have…” fund); 5% to the personal rainy day fund The rest to my business, specifically in marketing help, hiring an assistant and the ability to continue my entrepreneurial journey for equity in science, technology, engineering and math education. I grow the math confidence of students!
