I’m 54, single mom of 5 that overcame a lifetime of violence and trauma, became a personal trainer at 52, went from size 10 to a 2!
We would like to thank you for supporting Tonya Trotter in this year's competition. Your support helps us contribute to the National Breast Cancer Foundation who provides early detection, education, and support services to those affected by breast cancer.
I love that my kids are older, which gives me more freedom in my life to do the things that I enjoy, especially traveling. I’m in the best shape of my life, I’m in a career that I love, I have amazing children and good friends. I know who I am now and make no apologies! Not afraid to take risks and do it afraid! I just go for it and see what happens!
How do you stay fabulous? The biggest part of staying fabulous for me is eating a basically healthy diet. Before getting in the shape that I’m in today, I ate whatever I wanted to eat. Now I do my best to eat a balanced diet that includes plenty of proteins, complex carbs, veggies and fruit. I also drink plenty of water. I carry a half gallon iron flask around with me everywhere I go. Because I’m a personal trainer I’m in the gym every day, so it makes it easy for me to get in ‘mini’ workouts five days a week.
What would you do with the $40,000?One of my goals when I became a trainer was to open my own training gym one day. A smaller version of a commercial gym just for personal training clients, creating a space free from distractions and having to wait for equipment to be available. If I won the $40,000, I would use it to become a business owner, employ my kids and leave a legacy for my family.
