I have been a Crohn's disease warrior and silver-lining seeker for 30 years. Since turning 40 I've learned to accept my illness as a gift!

At 40, I began my journey to accept my illness as a gift! It is when I recognized that every experience, whether joyful or challenging, has shaped who I am today. It has taught me to honor myself and to embrace my true being. I’ve come to understand the importance of self-compassion and the need to prioritize my own well-being, which I now share with others who struggle with chronic illness. It’s a beautiful realization to know who I am and what I was put on this earth to accomplish!
How do you stay fabulous?I lost my large intestine due to Crohn’s when I was 33 yrs old, resulting in a JPouch. I stay fabulous by building awareness about what a JPouch is - pls Google it - and by supporting others who have lost their colon due to Crohn's, Colitis or Cancer. I am writing a book about my journey and I have a podcast that allows other JPouchers to heal by sharing their own personal warrior stories. I instill the importance of seeking silver linings when times get tough,which can be really hard sometimes!
What would you do with the $40,000?I would use the money to continue building my support platforms. I would also like to start an annual retreat for people who are afraid to travel due to their JPouch anxieties. It is not easy, exhausting and very nerve-racking to travel with a JPouch, and I look forward to building a community of compassionate guidance and unwavering acceptance, so others can feel comfortable to experience the world when they feel well enough.
