I started an Interior Design business a few years ago and being 43 I feel like I am just getting started!
We would like to thank you for supporting Susie Smith Coughlin in this year's competition. Your support helps us contribute to the National Breast Cancer Foundation who provides early detection, education, and support services to those affected by breast cancer.
Being 43 is challenging because my body is changing in ways that I don't fully understand. However, I am finally at a place in my life where my ego isn't tied to the outcome of situations. My ego drove me in my twenties and thirties and now I am more at peace with my body. I have a new understanding of my strengths, abilities, skills, and am finally able to take accountability of my failures and mistakes. Time takes time.
How do you stay fabulous?I haven't drank alcohol in over 15 years and this contributes a lot to staying healthy. When I stopped drinking I started playing tennis and now play 6 days a week, play on a 40+ USTA team and push my mind and body to compete in highly competitive tennis. It keeps me young and I am proud my children get to watch their mom compete at such high level.
What would you do with the $40,000?I am currently an Interior Designer and am opening my first retail location this November. I would love to use the money to help pay my junior design assistants what they deserve to help grow the business. If you invest in your employees they invest in you. I truly believe for my business to grow I need to lead by example. That means, showing them they are just as important to the growth as I am. A strong leader knows they can't do it alone.
