Not having to deal with my period, mastering my weight, and having the confidence to ask for help when needed are all things I love about being over 40. I’ve accepted I’m not young anymore, but I enjoy the jaw drop when people realize I’m 10 or even 20 years older than they thought! I love the freedom to do what I want, even if I can’t always afford it. And I miss hearing my mom ask, “If you leave now, when are you coming home?” when I head out at 1 a.m. for chips.
How do you stay fabulous?I stay fabulous by being true to myself having faith and embracing my journey. It’s about self-care, mind, body, and spirit, so I can give to others from a place of abundance. I believe food is medicine; what I eat fuels my energy and keeps me vibrant. I surround myself with positive people, stay active, challenge my mobility, and commit to life long learning. The key to real fabulousness is confidence, knowing who you are, celebrating it, and sharing your fabulous self with the world.
What would you do with the $40,000?I would use it to tighten up operations at Soulful Colour, extending our runway to support the community through my books and initiatives. I’d enhance productivity by hiring my first team member. Focus on IP strategy, marketing promotion, and publicity, especially with the added visibility if I land the cover of NewBeauty Magazine. This investment would help scale Soulful Colour to a national brand, allowing me more time to colour and enjoy a massage, weekly.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Fab Over 40, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
