I love the independence I've earned at this age. I don't need anyone to make me happy. I've learned that its my own responsibility to make myself happy. The small things matter, and what used to be important, no longer is. I realize life is about the journey and not the destination, which wasn't always my outlook. Turning 40 was the beginning of empty nesting and the process of recreating myself. I love having the freedom to choose to thrive in life, so I can be of influence.

I just try to be the best I can be. If I bring the best me, then others will bring their best. Health and life balance is very important. Being conscious of eating, drinking and sleep habits are critical. Our body is our temple, so I like to exercise and incorporate yoga weekly. I take risks and am open to new opportunities. I give back to my career and industry. I travel because it fills my soul and makes me happy. I spend time with my family, close friends and value all my relationships.

I would put some in savings to build the investment egg. Then, I never got to take my children on a trip to celebrate their college graduation. I would take both my children on an exotic vacation, just us three and spend that special time together celebrating them. I've always wanted to go on an African Safari or a European river cruise through wine country.
