Connect What do you love about being over 40?

In a nutshell, I no longer have any fucks to give about so many things. Toxic people? Bye. Doubters and negative Nancies? Hit the road. I am unapologetic in going for what I want and am finally in a position where my dreams are beginning to come true. Not only do I have my first book coming out next year, but my agent is currently shopping around two more. My childhood dream coming true is right there on the horizon. I’ve worked so hard to get here and all that effort is finally paying off.

How do you stay fabulous?

I cultivate a unique personal style. I stay radically present in my life so I’m enjoying every moment. I’m recently divorced and basking in the freedom of knowing exactly what I want in a partner and in my life going forward. Therapy is an absolute goddess-send for my mental health. And living my dream as a writer is great for my skin. Lots of orgasms are also a vital recipe for staying fabulous. ✨😉✨

What would you do with the $40,000?

I’d use the prize money to go back to school to get my MFA in creative writing and also get certified as a trauma counselor. I’d particularly like to work in the field of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, which has a serious lack of mental health resources for recovered women and their families. I’d also use the money to finish writing the many books I’m working on that my agent is ready to sell. Writing is my passion, but sadly doesn’t pay a living wage.
