I love experiencing my body changing over time. It's such a privilege to get older (and hopefully wiser!) I love my gray hairs and I look forward to having those beautiful crows feet you see on women who've smiled a lot in life. Wanting to "make it" as a visual artist isn't for the weak, but being in my 40s has given me the perspective I needed to finally do it, and I've never felt so empowered. With my family's love and support, my artwork is beginning to get museum-level recognition!

I'm learning to balance humility and confidence. I make a point of learning something new every day and being around people who push me to do better or be more empathetic. I've learned to put more time into the relationships that matter to me. I pay attention to my body and emotional state, and when I'm really stressed, I slow down and empty my schedule. I prioritize having conversations with each of my kids, regular dates with my husband, and going out for coffee with friends.

I would definitely take a portion of that to upgrade my studio. I'm grateful to have a studio at home where I can work and be near my family, but it's a small space. I need more storage and another workbench at the very least. If possible, I'd like to expand it. I'd also use some of that money toward a new car and a family vacation - two things we very much need!
