Rachel Elspeth Gross

I love crushing the goals I set for myself when I was figuring out my career. I love feeling confident in myself and my abilities, which is something I wasn’t able to do for me as a younger woman. I love my work now, and I know that making the time to do the work I believe in makes me a happier woman, a better mama, and allows me to mentor younger ladies. It’s so wonderful to be the mentor for others that I couldn’t find when I was beginning my career.

I stay connected with the people who mean most to me, my lifelong friends. I keep a running list of all my professional goals so that I can celebrate my accomplishments, even when they are small. I also make the time to cook healthy meals with my daughter- self care is always a good idea, and I want my kid to live her best life and avoid the challenges the younger me faced.

I would put a big portion towards finishing research for a project I know will help fashion be better. I believe we need positive stories now more than ever, and this one is fantastic. The award would allow me to show the world what amazing things can be achieved when people who care come together and do their best work. I’d also be able to expand my mentorship. I’d be able to help more young women, ladies who want to write professionally, develop the skills they’ll need to find success.
