As a hemiplegic migraineur for 10 years, I have repeatedly survived its paralytic attacks, published a book while still living my life.
We would like to thank you for supporting Natasha Chai in this year's competition. Your support helps us contribute to the National Breast Cancer Foundation who provides early detection, education, and support services to those affected by breast cancer.
Living with a rare disorder that leaves you repeatedly paralyzed and without the ability to speak at any given time, gives you a new perspective. The clarity I now have about my values and priorities has allowed me to focus on what truly matters surrounding connections and personal growth. There’s a new found freedom in letting go of expectations and embracing authenticity, knowing that our greatest commodity is not of material things but of our own health and well-being.
How do you stay fabulous?Today, being fabulous means being my authentic self and embracing who I am at every life’s stage. It’s not about living a life filled with abundance in material goods; but of living a life that is filled with people and positive connections that inspire me to be my very best for my family and loved ones. This has meant learning and trying new things (like publishing a book); and pursuing interests that bring joy to not only myself but to others.
What would you do with the $40,000?With $40,000, funds would be used to market my latest memoir - “The Silent Paralyzer”; and donations made to Migraine Canada to help fund research for a cure on rare migraine disorders. As my mom is a two-time breast cancer survivor, I would also make a donation to the Cdn Breast Cancer Foundation. Lastly, I can’t forget my son, of which a portion of the money would also be put towards his college fund - because that’s what mom’s do!
