I refuse to bombard my social media profiles with advertisements for Fab Over 40, begging people to donate money to breast cancer research (but also for my own opportunist vanity: $1 = 1 vote) and vote for me every day. So that I then can be given $40,000, an incredible spa vacay, a magazine cover and I can pretend that I'm suddenly "so fabulous" because I have more wealthy friends and family or I'm more persuasive or
How do you stay fabulous?manipulative or spend much more of my precious life collecting friends and followers on social media than any of the other ladies competing? Why not just call it what it is, "The Fab Over 40 Fundraising for Breast Cancer Research Contest" and just give the $40,000 to Breast Cancer Research? Then women could come together to raise money for a greater cause for women, instead of competing against one another for our own personal benefit.
What would you do with the $40,000?If I won the $40,000 I would feel guilty about spending it on myself, as this money is needed for breast cancer research. So I would donate $10K to breast cancer research, $10K to RAINN, and use the remaining $20K to begin building an animal sanctuary. To me, it doesn't make sense for women to compete in a popularity contest on social media, by raising money for breast cancer research in exchange for votes, so that one of us can win a lot of money, that doesn't go to breast cancer research.
