It may have taken some time, but I love that I found my voice and confidence after 40. I finally started saying NO to things that didn't align with my values and became less of a people pleaser. After 20 years in a corporate career, I walked away at 40 years young to follow my passion for storytelling. At 46, I'm a journalist appearing on national TV, radio, print magazines and more doing what I love. I have so much more confidence and self-worth, not seeking outside validation, just being me.
How do you stay fabulous?Fabulous means health for me. Our health is everything. I take good care of my body fueling it with good foods and exercise. More importantly and especially with epilepsy, a healthy mind is a must, so reducing stress, sleeping well - basic things that make all the difference. And of course as a beauty journalist, I love a good skincare routine. Ultimately fabulous is beauty from the inside out.
What would you do with the $40,000?A firm believer in paying it forward I would use some of these funds to start a new series for women, on betting on ourselves despite the odds. From motherhood, relationships, entrepreneurship, I would share stories from women around the world on our real, raw experiences we don't speak often enough about -- all the unmentionables from self-sabatoge, mom guilt, menopause, sex and everything in between. Also, lucky to still have both my parents with me I'd take them on an epic family trip!
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Fab Over 40, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
