I’m an entrepreneur and community leader, passionate about eliminating the stigma around sobriety and mental illness.
We would like to thank you for supporting Lauren Perna in this year's competition. Your support helps us contribute to the National Breast Cancer Foundation who provides early detection, education, and support services to those affected by breast cancer.
In my 40's I have become the most confident and authentic version of myself, letting go of all the things that were holding me back like drinking and unhelpful thinking. I spent most of my 20's and 30's with low self-esteem, feeling unworthy and ashamed of my mental illnesses. The year I turned 40 was the year I started my business and it turns out entrepreneurship was the best thing for me. I have thrived in my 40's, and learned how to embrace myself including my anxiety and depression!
How do you stay fabulous?I always say that maintaining my mental health involves a mocktail of therapy, medicine, working out, meditation, journaling, and eating (mostly) healthy. But, the reason I stay fabulous is the people I surround myself with--my family, friends, business buddies, mentors, clients, and community of fellow women in business. I feel most fabulous laughing with family and friends, playing with my nephews, snuggling with my dog, and sharing my story to help fellow entrepreneurs and women thrive.
What would you do with the $40,000?I would put $15K towards a downpayment on a property, $10K into my business, and $10K to take my family on a beautiful vacation (maybe even Disney if my nephews ask really nicely). The final $5K would be donated to various mental health nonprofits that are working to eliminate the stigma and educate people on suicide prevention.
