After a battle with Breast Cancer, I have made it my mission to spread awareness about early detection and knowing your body.
We would like to thank you for supporting Joy Rodgers in this year's competition. Your support helps us contribute to the National Breast Cancer Foundation who provides early detection, education, and support services to those affected by breast cancer.
When I turned 35, I thought I had it all. Little did I know that two weeks later, I would find a lump on my breast and our world would be changed forever. Now, at the age of 43 I feel more empowered and knowledgeable to take on the world and help my teenaged children navigate life. I’ve learned that setbacks are part of life, but they don’t define me. I’m more resilient, better equipped to handle challenges, and learned to be unapologetically myself.
How do you stay fabulous?I stay fabulous by keeping my mind and my body active. I like to go for runs and take daily walks with a coworker. I am back in school in a completely different field just because I wanted the challenge. I have been a first responder for 25 years and don’t plan on stopping. It is a beautiful thing to spend your life helping others.
What would you do with the $40,000?I would do some renovations in our house and I would take my family on a vacation. I would also use part of the money to pay off debt that we incurred during my cancer battle as well as during Covid.
