Being a writer over 40 and having medical conditions my whole life, I realize what's really important: health, life, love, connection, fresh air, creativity, peace, nature, wildlife, altruism, charity, compassion, respect, and comfort. I see that love is the only way and that many other things are just a distraction, but I'm starting to realize the importance of fun along the path. I also love that by 40, I've discovered and embraced who I really am: a flower child.
How do you stay fabulous?I stay fabulous by connecting to nature, donating my hair every few years, getting fresh air, dancing a song or two, singing, drinking local spring water, making green smoothies, eating healthy most of the time, meditating, winning poetry slams, and connecting with my local creative community. They say Elvis had EDS, so dancing is one of my strengths. I also try to reflect on my behavior, how I can improve, and then acknowledge those things and work on neuroplasticity to change for the better.
What would you do with the $40,000?Since I was born with hEDS and spina bifida occulta, I now have 40 co-morbid health conditions like cysts in my low back that are filled with spinal fluid and three kinds of arthritis. $40,000 would help me afford housing that works for my health, braces, splints, cushions, medical treatments and therapies, medications, mobility assistance devices like wheelchairs, and maybe an RV for when I'm struggling to find fresh air but need to rest. I've had two breast cancer scares and have a tumor.
