Jade Meyer

I struggled with addiction for 24 years and now at 41, I’m 2 1/2 years sober and have completely turned my life around. I am a miracle.

What do you love about being over 40?

My favorite part about being over 40 is I get the opportunity to create and live a life that I do not want to run from. I spent my 20s and 30s living in fear, masking my feelings and numbing myself to avoid facing reality. Today, I get to wake up in the morning, grateful for the breath of life that God has blessed me with and go to job I love, working with children with autism. I’m at the age where I truly love myself and know that my true value does not lie my body, but in my soul.

How do you stay fabulous?

I think what keeps me fabulous and young at heart is the fact that I am a happy person and I love to laugh. I spend time around those that fill my heart with joy- family, friends, my fiancé and our son who has autism. Being creative is a big part of what drives me. I’m currently in Film school, which allows me a platform to share about my own struggles with addiction, how I found freedom, and spread the message of hope to others. I love to read, make jewelry, hike, and find crystals and fossils!

What would you do with the $40,000?

I would open up a woman’s sober living home. There are so many women struggling with addiction that are in need of safe space to heal. It would offer women a loving and peaceful environment to support their journey towards sobriety.
