Before there was anyone that looked like me, I’m the first Black deaf filmmaker to paved the way for many deaf actors and creators.

I'm thrilled to have found greater wisdom and inner peace in my life. My 20s-30s were a time of exploration, but I've since learned to prioritize my own needs and not be swayed by others' opinions. I've discovered that people will have different versions of me, but that's okay. I know myself best, and I'm proud of the person I am today as a Black Deaf multi-hyphente artist. I have made such a huge impact on so many walks of life. At 59, I feel more confident and self-assured than ever!
How do you stay fabulous?I'm an athlete at heart, & my daily workout is my therapy session. I make time for it no matter what, unless there are unavoidable events, travel plans, or conflicts. As someone who has played sports since their teenage years, I find that exercise keeps my mind and body in alignment. I don't need medication for my anxiety because the gym is my remedy. In addition to staying fit, I also enjoy reading, writing, and unleashing my creativity! My family's exceptional genetic legacy is a blessing.
What would you do with the $40,000?Honestly, there isn't a straightforward answer. However, I can tell you that I detest applying for grants to finance my film and stage productions. I have been involved in film and television production for over three decades and have a television pilot currently touring the film festival circuit this year. The $40K would be used to fund my next film project. I also have multiple businesses and creative ideas that would benefit from this funding as well, allowing me to keep them operational.
