Being a breast cancer survivor has made me see the importance of life and living it to the fullest, through self care.
We would like to thank you for supporting Jacqueline Dixon in this year's competition. Your support helps us contribute to the National Breast Cancer Foundation who provides early detection, education, and support services to those affected by breast cancer.
What I love about being over forty is the memories and experiences as a baby boomer. I know what it was like not having cell phones or computers. I am still a learner, and every day is an opportunity to push myself mentally and physically, understanding that this life we live is not promised to us. We have to know that the mark we leave in the world is most important and that we go with an outlook of gratitude and appreciation for life itself.
How do you stay fabulous?I stay fabulous; first and foremost, because my faith has kept me centered, I can look at this life with full appreciation of what it means to live. I am a mother of five, four girls, and a son with ten grandchildren. It is important to me to spend quality time with them; I am a hands-on grandmother. I like to stay active and can support them, whether it's attending a sports event or teaching them how to cook. I feel that in addition, it's important to have fun; laughter is a key ingredient.
What would you do with the $40,000?Being over forty, I have seen material things collect dust, be thrown out, and be forgotten. For this reason, I have learned to cherish experiences and create memories that last a lifetime. With the $40,000, I would take my five children, their spouses, and my ten grandchildren on a multi-generational vacation to relax slow things down, and enjoy what God created in the family. Getting older doesn't mean you have to get old; keep moving.
