Hilary Boyce

I’m a single mom of 2 kids in college and have been sober 8 years! I love running, reading, cooking for people around the table to share.

What do you love about being over 40?

I can be my true self and don’t need to live for the approval of others. Each day is a gift andI’m so grateful to be alive! I get to show up each day to whatever comes my way with love and fully present. I love that I get to do a little bit of everything sub in schools, nanny, serve in a restaurant. I love my sobriety and recovery journey that started at 42.

How do you stay fabulous?

Pray/Meditate to start day, try to run/walk 30 minutes more days out of the week than less, try to make a gratitude list almost daily, caring for my doggo, Sunshine. Getting outside especially by the sound (puget) keeping up with my 2 kids in their 20’s! Arts, theatre and books make life so enjoyable I also try to live by the golden rule. Treat all with love, kindness, respect. Try to understand others views. Eat nutritious food but always have some dessert! Life’s too short! Live sober! Serve!

What would you do with the $40,000?

I would use it to go back to school for a credential to be an advocate for middle school students as a school counselor or teacher. I’m passionate about kids finding community and have enjoyed my role as a substitute teacher in the shoreline school district the past 3 years.
