Being over 40, I’ve gotten to the stage in life where going for it is more important than winning or losing (to use the words of the great Arthur Ashe). I’m a lawyer but at 48, I became an Instagram model to show older women can be fabulous and every bit as sexy as younger women. In fact, older women are sexier because we know what we want, have so many learned experiences, and have been through the fire and are better for it. I walk and dress with a confidence I didn’t have when I was younger.

I was never a health nut and used to drink soda and have junk food all the time. In the last few months I decided to eat healthier and cut out sugar. I also took up walking and hiking. I have more energy now than in my twenties and even look better now at 48, which is a blessing that I never expected. I use Korean skincare but being Vietnamese, I have the softest skin and that’s something people notice about me and my smile.

I would use the money to help develop my brand as a public speaker. I have a powerful story to tell from escaping by boat with my family from Vietnam as a baby to becoming an Ivy League graduate and attorney, and surviving depression. At 48, I became an Instagram model to counter the narrative older women are not desirable. I was given smarts and sexiness, and at this stage of life I want to fully express who I am and bring beauty and connection to the world.
