What do you love about being over 40?

I love that I no longer feel the need to shrink myself to meet the expectations of others. Many of us spend our entire lives living up to someone else's dreams and values, but I managed to escape that matrix and get in touch with my true self. I am unapologetically ME, and I'm so proud of the woman I have become through grit and determination.

How do you stay fabulous?

I'm a big believer in the joie de vivre! I don't allow myself to get bogged down in the mundane chores of everyday existence; I ensure that each day includes at least a little touch of magic. When we find pleasure in even the simplest things, we take joy with us wherever we go. The feeling is contagious, so by practicing joy we share it with others and invite even more of it into our lives.

What would you do with the $40,000?

I might be your most boring contestant in this area! In August of this year, I suffered a corneal ulcer that left me functionally blind in my left eye. Then Hurricane Helene hit my area of Western North Carolina, and I had to pull money from savings to pay for repairs. My best chance at restoring my vision might be a corneal transplant, so I would likely spend the money on that. Perhaps that's not the most exciting answer, but getting my vision back would make an enormous difference for me.
