Elizabeth Heald

In the last year I lost 50lbs, I've learned different skills like mudding a room, taking down popcorn ceiling, etc., and I volunteer.

What do you love about being over 40?

Something happened when I turned 40. It's like a switch flipped in my brain and all of a sudden I could care less about other people's opinions about me. I also started a personal campaign called "Betsy Wants" Betsy was my childhood name. I'm trying to do things she was too afraid to do, or things that would make her proud. For example, "Betsy wants to wear bright colors today." Or "Betsy wants a bubble bath while enjoying a glass of wine." These two things have made me so much happier.

How do you stay fabulous?

Skin care is huge for me, I don't wear makeup most of the time so my skin needs to look amazing. I also took up walking two miles a day, or at minimum getting my "steps" in each day. This helped me to lose 50lbs over the last year. Also, scheduling friend dates is super important. I'd say once a week at least, meet for coffee, go on a walk, have a meal.

What would you do with the $40,000?

I've had a little time to think about this... If I win, I want to use at least a quarter of the winnings to help my community. I'd pay off student lunch debt, and the rest would go to animal and kid needs. I would also take care of some home projects and pay off my car!! But first, I'd want a Scrooge McDuck moment of swimming in it... or rolling. There will be pictures... lol
