Dorenda Huffstetler

I have come from being a victim to a victor in many areas of my life. Life has beaten me down several times, but I keep getting up again...

What do you love about being over 40?

I love the knowledge that the years behind me have given me, the joy of seeing my daughters grow up and become the good and loving women that I am so proud of today. I have truly looked at life from both sides now - I have been on top and I have fallen to the bottom in life, but my faith and my family have always used the lessons I taught them to help me get up and keep on trying, so I love that I have never quit, and I never will.

How do you stay fabulous?

I have battled several health issues that should have taken me down, i.e. I was told by Doctors in 1995 that due to the degenerative issues that I suffered, by the year 2000 I would be totally blind and in a wheelchair, totally unable to walk or care for myself. Now, it is 29 years later, and I am NOT blind or in a wheelchair, by GOD'S GRACE!! My daughter Leslie lives with me, and she and I help each oth⁸er any way we can...Leslie does my hair for me for example. We are a team!

What would you do with the $40,000?

The first thing I would do is buy a good SUV, New or slightly used, and then find a house for Leslie, my brother Eddie & I to call home..then we will go and tell our stories and help all that we can to make changes in a broken system, though we have only seen some of it! Pay some forward...
