I am a breast cancer and congenital heart disease survivor. Good nutrition and exercise allows me to be the best I can be.
We would like to thank you for supporting Donna Pearson in this year's competition. Your support helps us contribute to the National Breast Cancer Foundation who provides early detection, education, and support services to those affected by breast cancer.
What I love about being over 40 is the mental self-awareness, knowledge, and experience that has catapulted me to being my healthiest and physical best. My perspective has changed and I truly believe that every day is a gift! My experiences have shaped who I am today—a survivor in every way!
How do you stay fabulous?Since the discovery of a congenital heart defect and breast cancer, after multiple surgeries and complications resulting from my congenital heart defect, I had to prioritize my health. Over the past two years I have lost 80 pounds, greatly altered my nutrition, walk 3-4 miles per day, and have recently retired. I did lots of research and while my heart defect is congenital, stress negatively impacts one’s life . I journal, am spiritual, and am filled with gratitude for a second chance at life!
What would you do with the $40,000?Thank you for this amazing opportunity! We have two daughters—one is a child therapist and another a senior in journalism.. Our oldest daughter Caroline has her master’s and our younger daughter Paulina is planning for graduate school as well. My husband and I have prioritized their education and this gift would be in partial fulfillment of our dream to help our girls, for whom we are so proud. I would also donate to the charities the American Heart Association and Susan Komen.
