Dolores Rossman

Unaccustomed as I am, to blowing my own horn, now that I’m feeling 40, and chronologically 73, my real life, who I am, is just beginning.

What do you love about being over 40?

Application of everything I’ve learned in my short/long life. I have so much more confidence, having lived the crucible of my life when my hubbie died. After all, “life is to be gulped! not sipped.” While my dear Mexican mamá only had an eight grade education, Lolita (nickname for Dolores) achieved a B.S. in nutrition and two Masters degrees—one in Gerontology, the study of aging. Why aging? What lies ahead for older adults worldwide is fascinating to me.

How do you stay fabulous?

Taking care of body, mind and spirit keeps me healthy. As a Nutritionist, I learned the keys to good health. I am an avid cyclist, and ride my bicycle daily. I live in a very “walkable” neighborhood, just six blocks from the Space Needle in Seattle. Staying “fabulous” means taking care of myself, family, friends and community. I have a true joy for life!

What would you do with the $40,000?

I would address the topic of “ageism” in America, and worldwide. It’s time we get over looking at older adults, and particularly, women, as a drain on society, but as tremendous assets. My mantra is “Make money, have fun, do good. As music has played a tremendous role in my life, I would incorporate music to liberate the souls and spirits of older adults. Thank you! for this opportunity.
