What makes me fabulous over 40 is my incredible dedication and love caring for my son with developmental disabilities.
We would like to thank you for supporting Denise Parker in this year's competition. Your support helps us contribute to the National Breast Cancer Foundation who provides early detection, education, and support services to those affected by breast cancer.
During the last 20 years I have nurtured not just my son but my own personal growth by finding ways to be strong, empathetic and balanced. I may not have a traditional career, but my journey of care, advocacy and support for my son demonstrate a level of responsibility and personal growth that is both admirable and inspiring. Since I navigated the challenges of caregiving, I have become an expert in patience, empathy, and problem solving and I’ve stayed strong through it all.
How do you stay fabulous?Being fabulous is not about a job title or accomplishments, although those are nice things to have. I feel being fabulous is about resilience, love and dedication to those who need it most.
What would you do with the $40,000?My son now lives in a facility called Hattie Laurlham so I would donate some of the money to help them. I would use some of the money to fix up my house because it needs fixed up. Then I would like to take a European vacation with my husband since we have never been anywhere since taking care of our son was a full time job.
