Denise Choate

After the pandemic, I decided to embrace a new life, sense of style, energy and invention at age 60! I love my life!

What do you love about being over 40?

I have seven children and spent a greater part of my life raising them. Now that my children have moved on, I've become more adventurous, I returned to my passion, singing and performing jazz music with our college big band and my own blues Band. I was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2010 and didn't sing again until 2020, during the pandemic. I discovered that I am a much more talented singer than I thought that I was, and this resurgence of music and creativity has enriched my life.

How do you stay fabulous?

I laugh a lot. I love jokes. I sketch the outfits I wear on stage and doodle. I love my quirky, interesting friends and all the good things that are happening in their lives. My husband and I take care of rescue cats and we are very connected to our community We have music and so much love and these things, the love and friendship between us, keep me fabulous!

What would you do with the $40,000?

Wow what a dream! When I was diagnosed with Lyme my husband and I were only able to keep our CrossFit business open for 4 years after my diagnosis. We had to sell our home. I would use part of the $40,000 for a down payment on a lot of land and the rest traveling to music festivals and museums and as many places as our money would let us.
