I love really knowing who I am and not worrying about others’ opinions of me anymore. As we age, our priorities change: for me, it’s the experiences. In his formative years, I had taken my son to over 10 different doctors and I remember his pediatric neurologist saying to not end up on welfare while telling me not to have expectations (as there were times he would show aggression). I’ve learned over the years how important it is to take time for myself (that it’s not selfish but essential).

I found that keeping myself at the forefront keeps the shadows at bay, as I have struggled with depression in the past. Eating right, spending quality time with my BF, working out, meditating and journaling and watching my K-drama is imperative to this. I continue to challenge myself, having completed the century ride after only training a few months on the weekends (and the longest ride prior being 50 miles). No one can do it for you, you have to do it yourself and when you have, wow!

First I’d want to take care of my son, so some of the proceeds would go towards him in an investment account. I work in a Wealth Management firm as an Operations Manager, and I’ve done fairly well for myself building a solid retirement plan. I’d also invest some for myself. And since I believe in experiences instead of the material, and I’m Chinese, I’d love to visit China, S Korea and Japan. The balance would go towards a small remodeling project at my house.
