Cindie Clayton

I’m about to be 54 and have been a high school teacher in Texas for 25 years. I’ve survived cancer 3 times plus a triple bypass. Day by day.

What do you love about being over 40?

I don’t stress over others’ opinions and I am mostly confident in making my own choices. I can give sage advice to women and teens younger than me with an empathetic attitude and a caring heart. I love connecting to others and making them feel better about their future

How do you stay fabulous?

Self care, relaxation, stretches and enjoying each day! Due to my heart condition and artificial valves, I am Limited in what I can do physically so I consciously try to get moving each day and enjoy what is right in front of me. I love music of all kinds and I believe that my high school students and staying engaged with them, has kept me young.. I enjoy listening to their music and learning what the newest phrase is. I love that my students come to me for advice or to talk about their world.

What would you do with the $40,000?

I could pay off some medical bills and take my daughters to Europe. I’m about to retire after a 25 year teaching career and this would have me in a good spot financially by reducing monthly bills to a minimum. My girls’ dad died in January and this has left it all up to me. I know they are grieving and miss him immensely. I would just like to do something really nice for them (that I usually can’t afford) and have a nice bonding trip to share memories forever!
