I’m a 50 yr old author, journalist, music lover, and mom of 4. I stay ahead of a rare spinal cord disorder by staying healthy as possible.
We would like to thank you for supporting Candace Medel in this year's competition. Your support helps us contribute to the National Breast Cancer Foundation who provides early detection, education, and support services to those affected by breast cancer.
My favorite thing about being over 40 is knowing what I want to do with my life! I didn’t figure this out fully until I was 45, and when I did it was a game changer! I learned my version of fulfillment is a complex combination of variables with a dose of excitement, variety, and a bit of danger.
How do you stay fabulous?I try to stay physically and mentally healthy by staying active. Walking, weight training, hiking, and meditation help keep me fit and focused. Balance is key so playing with my kids or relaxing with a book are two of the things I need to rejuvenate my mind. I focus on proper nutrition and intermittent fasting to rejuvenate my body. Music is the medicine for my soul!
What would you do with the $40,000?$40,000 would go a long way to changing my family’s lives. My 2nd daughter will be starting music school in the fall and our family plans to move to Brooklyn. It will be the first time in years we will have family nearby which will be great for my 7 and 9 yr old boys. The move will also help further my career as a writer and photojournalist by strengthening ties I’ve made over the years in the community.
