My 20s were all about the grind - I completed my PhD and began my career as an educational psychologist. My 30s expanded my world to include my two amazing children. I find ever expanding joy in my 40s, as I have learned to more effectively balance parenting, marriage, & career, with all the little things that help to fill my cup. I love that I can breathe deep and enjoy the moment. I'm more grateful and intentional with my relationships, and more skilled at unapologetically guarding my energy.
How do you stay fabulous?I prioritize daily exercise and rest, and I use sunscreen every day like my mother taught me! Also, my mantra is "you get what you give" - I intentionally consider any ask of my time as to whether giving of myself toward that effort will fill me back up. This practice has led me to become comfortable with graceful "no"s and enthusiastic "yes"es, so that I don't burn out and this precious life is more joyful and appreciated.
What would you do with the $40,000?Thrilling to consider! My daughter graduates from high school this year, so I would love to take my family on a fabulous vacation post-graduation to celebrate before she heads to college. Beyond that, I would also invest some $ into savings (the responsible part of me shining through!) and use part of the $ to help make my inlaws' and parents' homes more accessible, as they are aging in place - doing so would bring needed peace of mind to all.
