I am fueled by my love of humanity and philanthropic purpose. I am a wife, mom, teacher, dog and cat rescuer, and children's book author.
We would like to thank you for supporting Belinda Diaz-Perez in this year's competition. Your support helps us contribute to the National Breast Cancer Foundation who provides early detection, education, and support services to those affected by breast cancer.
As a young person, I experienced confusion, self-doubt, disappointments and regrets. These emotions are part of life’s journey, and it’s empowering to embrace who I’ve become because of them. I love that I’m able to look back at struggles and say “I made it through”, while being excited about new things to come. I worry less, celebrate more, and focus on sharing life with others. Being over 40 means cherishing the gift of life, and embracing it with grace, gratitude and peace in your heart.
How do you stay fabulous?I stay fabulous by being of service. I truly believe this keeps me young, healthy, and vibrant. Besides teaching my wonderful students, I volunteer at a children’s theater and serve as Board President. I also fundraise for my local firehouse. In my spare time, I write children’s books geared towards character education. I speak at public elementary schools about self love while promoting anti-bullying. When I’m home I enjoy spending time with my rescue dogs, one of whom is special needs (deaf).
What would you do with the $40,000?In addition to being altruistic, I am a philomath. I believe my love of learning benefits and works in tandem with my love of helping others. If I was blessed with $40,000, I would more than likely invest in my next life goal, which is to obtain a Doctoral degree in Transformative Social Change and Justice. A portion of the money would also allow me to share my children’s books with many students across the state. I want to put as much good out into the world as possible while I’m able to do so.
