In my fifth decade, I have found my peace. I accept myself as I am. This means new adventures that feed my heart, mind, body and soul.

This era has become a stage in my life where peace is priority. I make very deliberate choices to protect it. Being 40 has enlightened me. I’m not sure when the shift occurred, but I’m certain the wisdom melted into my heart somewhere post-40th birthday like a gift straight from the stars. With now both the confidence I need to move forward with difficult decisions and the resources I’m blessed to have acquired to succeed, this decade has offered me much promise toward the life I desire.
How do you stay fabulous?I focus on presence. I am present and thankful for all things each day. I am mindful of the energy I bring into a room and especially into the hearts and minds of my family. I remind myself that gratitude will curb anxiety and maintain perspective when I struggle with the harshness of someone else’s reality. The most powerful things I can offer to those close to me are perspective, mindfulness and a calm heart. Being an example to them has strengthened my own convictions about this journey.
What would you do with the $40,000?Longing desperately for a sense of community and family that have been lost or forgotten in my lifetime, I’ve recently made strides to create my own in whatever capacity I could. My family, together with my brother and his family, purchased a home in the hills of southern Indiana. Here we have begun to create a new life together where we can share the joy, hardships, stress, responsibility, and beauty of a peaceful home. I would use this money to continue on our newly laid path to peace.
