Amari Pearson-Fields

I love that I am not plagued by the same fears and anxieties I had when I was in my 20s and 30s. I am not looking to blend in any more - I am looking to stand out. I am much more comfortable expressing my authentic self than I was when I was worried about not being accepted. I love the skin I'm in. I love and admire the woman I've become. I could not have said that when I was 40 and 315 pounds.

I try and take care of my body. I have lost about 133 pounds in the past 10 years (some of the pounds more than once). I am eating better, staying hydrated and spending quality time with family and friends. But I think the most important thing I do, is stay connected and curious. Fashion shows, concerts, charity events, you name it. If you can continue learning and growing you never get old.

My dad is 92 years old. I don't know how much more time I have left with him so I would take him to his favorite place, New Orleans. I'd fly him there first class, and give him the trip of a lifetime. Jazz concerts, great food, a beautiful hotel and chauffeured trips to his favorite spots. I want to fill his remaining years with as many memorable experiences as possible. I want them to be fun. I want them to be happy and not spent waiting for his family and friends to pass.
