After 40 (& 50!), I'm in my "all about me" era! I do what makes me feel good, what makes me look good without guilt . I always wanted to be a writer & at 52 I graduated w/ my Associate's Degree in Creative Writing (Poetry). Since then I left a 25-year paralegal career, to pursue a writing life. Being over 40, has encouraged me to embrace all my wishes & dreams, practical or not, & work towards making them a reality. You only live once-I intend to make the most of it . . . at every age!
How do you stay fabulous?By trying to keep a positive attitude & focusing on the good in life. When bad things happen, I try to just roll w/ it-Take a deep breath & move on. I do things that bring me joy-writing/reading/time w/friends/concerts & festivals. I enjoy things I love & try not to feel guilty for it-funky jewelry, steak & pizza (not at the same time), mango margaritas, & my mom's one-of-a-kind chocolate pie! I try to always be kind & thoughtful to others. I start each day saying "it's going to be a good day."
What would you do with the $40,000?It sounds very unsexy, but I'd use $30,000 to make much needed repairs to the family home I inherited when my father passed away. $5,000 to pay off some small debts. And $5,000 to take my dream vacation to Greece! Been in love with Greece since high school, but have never had the financial means to travel there. To gaze across the blue waters & blue roofs of Santorini, to visit the Parthenon in Athens, & to roam with the street cats of Thessaloniki . . . would truly be a dream come true!
