You're old enough to know what you want and young enough to get it! Everything making my life fabulous today happened after 40: I met my wonderful late husband. We adopted Lev, now 19. And my triple-career started flourishing in nonprofit grant writing, sports broadcasting, and guest-lecturing around the country to college students. Most importantly, I finally learned, as Michelle Obama said, to say "I like me. I like my story and all the bumps and bruises. That’s what makes me uniquely me.”
How do you stay fabulous?1) Being a tough-minded, passionate optimist…choosing joy, hope and confidence over sorrow and bitterness, focus on future instead of the past. As Martin Luther King, Jr. said “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” 2) Watching my dreams fulfilled by taking opportunities to learn and grow, personally and professionally. 3) Keeping my heart open to love after being divorced and widowed. As Auntie Mame said, “Life is a banquet!” I intend to feast as long as I live!
What would you do with the $40,000?My family believes in sharing unexpected ‘wealth’ and paying fortune forward. Therefore, $20,000 of the funds will go towards Fab Over 40’s charity, The National Breast Cancer Foundation, (let’s find a cure!) and $20,000 will go towards our family’s needs. Lev is my inspiration, as they have worked hard to overcome so many daunting challenges (autism, physical disabilities, PTSD) to become the generous, nurturing, creative soul they are today! I look forward to Lev being ‘Fab at 40!’
