The empowerment of life experience, whether good or bad, channels struggle into strength. Both of my parents, my lifetime support system, passed away close together. I’ve learned how to be a parent without my own parents to guide me. My personal trauma and heartache has allowed me to teach my own daughters strength and resilience. I am a better Mom to them for having a new perspective on what really matters and not sweating the small stuff.
How do you stay fabulous?I feel my best maintaining a healthy work/life balance. I enjoy the intellectual fulfillment of my career and supporting patients with thoracic cancers, cheering on my girls at their activities, and playing a round of golf with girlfriends. Leading by example for my daughters and surrounding myself with other women who celebrate each other’s accomplishments and hold each other up during the hard times is my favorite form of self care. At 6’1”, if I want to throw on a pair of heels, I will!
What would you do with the $40,000?I would invest this entirely in my daughters’ education and future. There isn’t any greater gift than investing in the next generation of fabulous women. Of course I would take them out to their favorite ice cream spot first!
